COVID-19 protocols at Canadian airports are getting the blame for the backup of international arrivals.

That’s the view of the Canadian Airports Council, which wants the Trudeau government to do away with random tests and public health questions in an effort to ease the major delays so many face upon their arrival.
”We’re seeing that we clearly cannot have these public health requirements and testing at our borders as we get back to regular travel,” according to CAC interim president Monette Pasher.
She says the extra steps mean its four time longer to process passengers than it did before the pandemic.
Pasher adds that was fine when people were not travelling, but now it’s become a serious problem.
The situation’s especially bad at  Pearson International, where passengers on 120 flights were held in planes Sunday waiting for their turn to get in line for customs.
Pasher says sometimes the wait is 20-minutes, other times over an hour.
There’s been no comment from the health and transportation ministers.
