Celebrities like Jason Alexander, Marlee Matlin and George Takkai are among those mourning the passing of comedian Gilbert Gottfried, who has died from a recurring, genetic heart disorder.
Gottfried’s distinctive, scratchy voice was heard for years as a talking duck in commercials for AFLAC insurance.
He first came to prominence with frequent appearances on MTV in its early days and as a cast member of “Saturday Night Live” in the 1980s.
Gottfried also did voice work for children’s television and movies, most famously playing the parrot Iago in Disney’s “Aladdin.”
