Ontario’s opposition parties are urging the Ford government to bring back masking rules and better access to PCR tests.
In a statement on Twitter, Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca said mask mandates are needed in essential indoor settings, including schools, pharmacies, and grocery stores.
His comments were echoed by the leaders of the NDP and Green Party who both expressed support for masking in essential public spaces.
Del Duca says with cases counts at their highest level, Ontarians deserve science not silence.
Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie says her government is not considering re-imposing restrictions like mandatory masks but encourages people to wear them.
“I encourage people to continue masking indoors as circumstances warrant for example, if you or someone you’re with is at a higher risk of developing a severe case of COVID, is immunocompromised or if you’re simply not comfortable without a mask,” said Crombie.
Liberal Leader Del Duca says says it’s a big mistake that Doug Ford is still planning to end all mask mandates in long-term care homes and hospitals April 27th.
