Zoomers of a certain vintage will remember 1960’s singer and teen idol Bobby Rydell.
Rydell got his big break on “American Bandstand” in his home town of Philadelphia.
His first hit, “Kissing Time,” quickly followed.
The then 17-year-old rocketed to stardom and would go on to record a string of nearly three-dozen Top 40 hits including “Volare,” which was his signature song to open and close shows.
Bobby Rydell died yesterday of complications from pneumonia. He was 78.
