CANADA TO FACE BELGIUM, CROATIA, MOROCCO IN OPENING GROUP STAGE OF WORLD CUP

Canada’s men soccer team is going to take on Belgium, Croatia and Morocco in Group F in the opening group stage of the World Cup in Qatar this November.
In the latest world rankings, Canada is ranked 38, while Belgium is No. 2, Croatia No. 16 and Morocco No. 24.
The 32-team tournament runs November 21 to December 18.
The teams are divided into eight groups for the first state.
Each team plays the others in its group once, with the top two advancing to the knockout stage.
Canada plays Belgium November 23, Croatia November 27 then Morocco December 1.
In their only other appearance in soccer’s showcase in Mexico in 1986, the Canadians lost all their first round matches (to France, Hungary and the Soviet Union) and were outscored 5-0.
