Canada’s first lithium-ion electric vehicle battery production facility will be built in Windsor.
It’s part of a $4.9-billion joint-venture between Stellantis and LG Energy Solution.
The deal is set to created 2,500 jobs with the provincial and federal governments offering incentives.
”This is the largest automotive investment in the history of our province and the country as well,” Premier Doug Ford declared.
”This game-changing battery plant will help guarantee that Ontario is at the forefront of the electric vehicle revolution and ensure we remain a global leader in auto manufacturing just as we have been for over 100 years.”
Saying the proximity to the border makes Windsor an ideal location, Stellantis plans to announce their second such plant, which will be in the U.S., in the coming weeks.
