Those 55-cms that fell on Toronto January 17 are long gone but city officials have only now completed what they’re calling the Major Snow Event Post-Operational Report.
City Hall declared a Major Snow Storm Condition, that lasted for about one month, and saw crews remove nearly 180,000 tonnes of snow, which carried a price tag of more than $17-million.
That’s about 20% of the annual winter maintenance budget, which is approximately $89.2-million.
The staff report, which goes before the Infrastructure and Environment committee March 29, details the city’s response, the challenges staff and crews faced and improvements underway to the extreme winter weather preparedness and response plans.
