The scientific director of Ontario’s COVID-19 Science Advisory Table is resigning.

Dr. Peter Jüni , a familiar voice on Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer is moving to England in June for a new job as a professor at the University of Oxford to be closer to family.

Dr. Jüni says while he’s excited for his new role, but he’s having a bit of ‘imposter syndrome’ wondering if he measures up to the new challenge.

He was appointed to the provincial science table in July of 2020 as part of a team of researchers who advised the Ford government on COVID-19.

His resignation comes as the province lifts indoor-capacity limits and vaccine passport requirements, as well as the dropping of masking requirements in most public places next week.

Jüni is a professor of medicine and epidemiology at the University of Toronto and director of a research centre at St. Michael’s Hospital.
