The president of Ukraine has told Vladimir Putin and his inner circle that their invasion will backfire as Russia’s economy is strangled by Western sanctions.
”You will definitely be prosecuted for complicity in war crimes,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a video address.
”And then, it will definitely happen, you will be hated by Russian citizens – everyone whom you have been deceiving constantly, daily, for many years in a row, when they feel the consequences of your lies in their wallets, in their shrinking possibilities, in the stolen future of Russian children.”
The Russian Defence Ministry says the two blasts that hit a maternity hospital in Mariupol were caused by explosive devices planted in a ”staged provocation to incite anti-Russian agitation in the West.”
A major-general denies the Russian military was responsible for the attack that killed two adults, one child and left 17 injured.
An official with the International Committee for the Red Cross says civilians trapped in the besieged city are facing unimaginable conditions.
Sacha Volkov says people are fighting for food, a black market’s breaking out for vegetables, there’s no meat available.
Many of Mariupol’s citizens also have no drinking water and hospitals are only partially functioning.
