American music legend Lionel Richie got an outpouring of love and a fine dose of his own music at a special event in Washington D.C. last night.
The 72-year old singer-songwriter was presented with the George Gershwin Prize for Popular Music for his decades of hit-making. The event was presented by the U.S. Library of Congress and featured tributes from fellow musicians.
The Gershwin Prize celebrates the work of an artist whose career reflects lifetime achievement in promoting song as a vehicle of musical expression and cultural understanding.
