Since it’s release in 1985, the song We Are The World has been heard by millions around the world.
But composer Lionel Richie, who co-wrote the song with Michael Jackson, says it’s sad that world leaders haven’t quite figured out how people can do as the song urges and “live together as one.”
The 72-year-old says he’s frustrated that things like the invasion of Ukraine are still happening, despite the hope the song has generated.
This week, Richie was this year’s George Gershwin Award for Popular Music.
