Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky got a standing ovation from the UK’s House of Commons after a historic speech broadcast live on video.
Echoing Winston Churchill’s ‘we shall fight on the beaches’ speech to the same chamber in 1940, Zelensky vowed: “We will not give up and we will not lose, we will fight until the end, at sea, in the air, we will continue fighting for our land.”
And quoting Shakespeare’s to be or not to be, he said for Ukraine, it’s “definitely yes, to be”.
While revealing that more than 50 children have been killed, the President also appealed for more military assistance and further sanctions.
It marked the first time a foreign leader has directly addressed MP’s in the Commons.
