The exodus of refugees fleeing Vladimir Putin’s war against their country has reached 2-million.

The onslaught by Russian forces has trapped people inside cities that are running low on food, water and medicine amid the biggest ground war in Europe since World War II.

Previous attempts to lead civilians to safety have crumbled with renewed attacks.

But Tuesday, video posted by Ukrainian officials shows buses with people moving along a snowy road from the eastern city of Sumy.

Another video shows yellow buses with red crosses on them in the southern port of Mariupol.

It’s not clear how long the effort would last.

As Putin’s war on Ukraine begins a 13th day, Ukraine’s president has appealed directly to Americans to support his country.

In an interview with ABC’s World News Tonight, Volodymyr Zelenskyy explained that Ukraine represents a place of freedom and is fighting for countries like Canada, as well as the U.S.

“I want to say to Americans, I just want you to feel and understand what does freedom mean for us, because always, American people, they speak about freedom and they know what this is. And now when you’re looking at Ukrainians, I think you feel what this means for us,” Zelenskyy said in English.
