Major public events are returning to Toronto.

Mayor John Tory announcing permits have been granted for events like Pride, the Caribbean Carnival and the Taste of the Danforth.

“Supporting these festivals will help the city recover from the long winter of this pandemic,” Tory said at a new conference.

“Supporting these festivals will help me and my colleagues in our number one priority, which is to keep Toronto on track to protect and build on all we have going for us–to protect the progress we’ve made in getting through this nightmare of a pandemic.”

Like much of the rest of the world, the city’s streets have gone quiet for the last two years–shut down due to the pandemic.

TIFF will also return to being a fully in-person event in September.

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade has the honour of being the first event to return. It goes ahead March 20th.
