Air raids and explosions are going off in Kyiv on Friday, as Russian troops move to the edge of Ukraine’s capital with every indication Russian Leader Vladimir Putin wants to destabilize Ukraine’s government.

In fact, Ukraine’s president is saying he believes he is the next target while his family is in hiding.

Volodomyr Zelenskyy also said Friday, “I want to deliver a message to the Russian president, fights are ongoing all over the country, let’s begin negotiations, to stop people from dying.”

In a new development, according to The Associated Press, The Kremlin says Russia is ready to send a delegation to Belarus for talks with Ukrainian officials. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he is willing to discuss a non-aligned status for Ukraine. Moscow has demanded Ukraine drop its bid to join NATO, and adopt a neutral status. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Friday that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to send the delegation in response to that offer.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau joins other NATO leaders in a virtual meeting Friday morning while European Union leaders offer a united front after a six-hour meeting during which they agreed on a second package of economic and financial sanctions on Russia.

A statement from The Russian military claims it has destroyed 118 Ukrainian military assets since the war began early Thursday.

But, U.K. Defense Secretary Ben Wallace is rejecting Russian claims of success on the first day of its invasion of Ukraine.

Wallace says British intelligence indicates that Russia has actually lost hundreds of personnel.

Ukraine reports over 1000 Russian soldiers have been killed on invasion’s second day.

Ukraine’s Armed Forces allege that it is the largest number of casualties in conflict ever sustained by Russia in one day.
