What was initially seen as the end of an era may have a happy ending.

A beloved Toronto patty shop announced it was closing.  As a result, hundreds of people lined up yesterday on Eglinton Avenue in Little Jamaica.  Many expressed the opinion that Randy’s makes the best patties outside of Jamaica and certainly the best in Canada.

In a statement on social media, Randy’s owners said they were closing due to the Crosstown LRT construction, two years of dealing with COVID-19 as well as aging owners.

With that, Toronto music superstar Drake offered to buy the shop; announcing on social media that he’d buy Randy’s right now.

The owners said they haven’t received a formal offer from the rapper but they do hope Randy’s can be revived in one form or another.
