Ontario’s premier has made it official.

Doug Ford has announced a billion dollar plan to do away with renewal fees for licence plate stickers, which is a $120 annual savings for drivers with vehicles in southern Ontario and $60 in northern Ontario.

“On top of that, we’re going to refund what you paid to renew your stickers for the past two years,” Ford explained, “We’re refunding all license plate sticker fees paid since March 2020.”

Premier Ford explained that license plates will still need to be renewed but free of charge and without a sticker.

To receive a refund, the premier says drivers will have to confirm their address by visiting ontario.ca/addresschange.

There’s also a dedicated phone line at 1-888-333-0049.

The premier also spoke about the upcoming budget, to be delivered by the end of March ahead of the June 2nd election.

Ford said his government is close to getting a childcare deal with the federal government but was non-committal on a gas tax cut.
