Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino says a command centre has been set up so the RCMP and OPP can share information in the ongoing Ottawa protests.

“The federal government is very much concerned with providing the space to have those tools, have the assets, have the personnel so that enforcement actions can be undertaken as quickly as possible,” said Mendicino.

He made the remarks following the resignation of Ottawa’s police Chief. When asked how the resignation this will impact policing in that city, Mendicino says the federal government had no role it the decision and its not something the federal government has jurisdiction over.

Ottawa police have taken a lot of flack from the public for their handling of the anti-vaccine mandate demonstrations that have paralyzed the downtown core of the city.
