Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is responding to Ontario’s State of Emergency

“Ontario’s announcement this morning is responsible and necessary, and we will continue working alongside all partners to get the situation under control,” Trudeau told reporters.

The Prime Minister spoke with President Joe Biden earlier about the ongoing border protests.

“Everything is on the table because this unlawful activity has to end and it will end,” said Trudeau. “I can’t say too much more now as to exactly when or how this ends because unfortunately we are concerned about violence and so we’re taking every precaution to keep people safe.”

Trudeau also attended a virtual summit with President Biden and other allies to address the situation in Ukraine and says the West is ready to impose sanctions if Russia invades again.

“We’re all concerned that Russia is continuing to build up its presence and looking actively for excuses to act, instead Russia must de-escalate.”
