Ontario’s Liberal leader is calling for strengthened vaccine certificates when restaurants, gyms and theatres open to 50 percent capacity on Monday.
Steven Del Duca joins NDP Leader Andrea Horwath in asking for the use of vaccine certificates to include LCBOs, cannabis stores and non-essential retail.
In addition, the Ontario Liberals want to bring in emergency curbside pick-up at LCBOs for those who remain unvaccinated against COVID-19 to ensure individuals with alcohol dependence can continue accessing alcohol and are not put at risk.
And Del Duca reiterated his call to update COVID-19 vaccine certificates to require boosters and changing the definition of “fully vaccinated” to three doses.
Dr. Peter Juni, scientific director of the COVID-19 Science Advisory Table, is also recommending a change of the definition of fully vaccinated from two to three doses, and to require 3 COVID vaccine shots in order to access all places where COVID vaccination is required.
To date, Premier Doug Ford has resisted changing the definition of fully vaccinated from three to two doses and requiring 3 doses of vaccine to access places where vaccination is required.
