It’s been 53 years since Janice Ian learned the truth at 17.
She’s now 70 and the singer-songwriter who has never been afraid to tackle difficult subjects is releasing a final album, “The Light at the End of the Line.”
In 1967 Ian became one of the first fully self-determined female singer-songwriters; having penned every track on her debut album. That blazed a trail for artists like Laura Nyro, Carole King and Canada’s Joni Mitchell who followed suit.
