She starred on Broadway in “My Fair Lady” but was probably best know for her turn as Truly Scrumptious opposite Dick Van Dyke in the 1968 “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.”
Tony Award-nominated British actress Sally Anne Howes, who enjoyed a career that spanned more than six decades, has died.
She took over the role of Eliza Doolittle from Julie Andrews on Broadway in 1958. In 1963 she was nominated for a Tony for her work in Brigadoon. In 2007, she returned to “My Fair Lady,” as Mrs. Higgins in a Cameron Mackintosh-produced tour of the U.S.
Sally Anne Howes was 91 years old.
