Toronto Police Chief James Ramer has tested positive for COVID-19.

The police service says he tested positive yesterday — though Ramer says he feels well and is continuing to work while isolating at home.

In a statement, the Chief said, “I am fully vaccinated, and I will continue to take all necessary precautions to limit the spread of COVID-19. I would encourage everyone to do the same. Get fully vaccinated including a booster shot, practice physical distancing and wear your mask.”

He says he’s working closely with Toronto Public Health and the police service wellness unit to ensure his close contacts are notified.

No details were released on the type of COVID-19 he tested positive for.
