Covid is taking a toll on Canadians and dentists are saying they are seeing the stress and anxiety of the ongoing pandemic in the mouths of patients.
Dentists are seeing increased cases of cracked and broken teeth resulting from involuntary grinding at night.
Dentist Bruce Ward, a past president of the British Columbia Dental Association, says he’s noticed the increase in what’s called bruxism cases in his Vancouver-area practice and so have colleagues right across Canada.
Ward says he recently had to pull two badly cracked teeth from a patient whose night-time grinding and clenching weakened the teeth.
