After the Trudeau Liberals issued a non-essential travel advisory for trips out of the country, the prime minister’s MPs as well as the New Democrat members of parliament have been told by their party leadership to forget about any plans for vacations south during the holidays.

But that is not the case for the Conservatives.

Staff in the office of leader Erin O’Toole say Conservative MPs are free to travel international because “it is only an advisory.”

But the Justin Trudeau told Canadians Wednesday, now is not the time to travel.

“I know after the year we’ve had, almost the two years we’ve had, people were really looking forward to getting away to not having to think about COVID,” Prime Minister Trudeau explained, “The reality is, we have to think about COVID. Omicron means we have to be even more careful.”

The non-essential travel advisory will be in place for at least four weeks.
