The waste collector strike in parts of Peel Region is over.

The region had been in a dispute with its contractor, Emterra Environmental and its employees.

About 200 employees walked off the job on Monday when they voted down an offer from management.

But workers voted in favour of the company’s latest offer and will be back on the job.

The strike affected residents in parts of Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon.

Officials say normal collection will resume next week.
