More than 200 Toronto Police officers are now said to be on unpaid leave because they are either unvaccinated against COVID-19 or have not disclosed their vaccination status.
November 30th was the deadline for uniformed and civilian members of the service to disclose their status.
So, 117 uniformed officers and 88 civilian members are now off the job temporarily.
They may return to work when they are vaccinated.
Police Chief James Ramer reassures Toronto residents the absences will not affect front line service or impact public safety.
Meantime, more than 900 employees of the Toronto District School Board, who are seeking vaccine exemptions are still working in schools while the board reviews their requests.
Several experts are questioning the move saying it puts unvaccinated students at risk.
