If you’ve always wanted to own a villa in the heart of Rome, you’re in luck.
This one is going to be auctioned by court order.
The Casino dell’Aurora, also known as Villa Ludovisi, features the only known ceiling mural painted by Italian baroque master Caravaggio. It was built in 1570 and has been in the Ludovisi family since the early 1600s.
However, after after the current owner died in 2018, the villa became the subject of an inheritance dispute between the children from his first marriage and his third wife.
The villa is scheduled to be auctioned in mid-January…the bidding starts at $400million.
