Jews around the world are celebrating Hanukkah.
The start of the Festival of Lights, was marked last night at Toronto’s Mel Lastman Square in a ceremony hosted by the Jewish Russian Community Centre of Ontario.
Interestingly enough, the Menorah, the centre piece of Hanukkah, which was lit last night in North York was made from a block of solid ice.
Hanukkah marks the recovery of Jerusalem and the re-dedication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem and runs till next Monday.
