The head of Ontario’s COVID-19 science advisory table says he’s not optimistic that vaccine certificate mandates will start to be phased out January 17th, as Premier Doug Ford announced earlier in the Fall.
Doctor Peter Juni says when you look at what’s happening right here in Ontario, and in a worsening situation in Europe, he thinks the probability that this province will drop vaccine certificate mandates in mid-January is next to zero percent.
“I think we’re doing nearly everything better, so first of all we haven’t pretended the pandemic is over,” Dr. Juni explained, “There were a few months in Europe where people were saying, hooray, we have so many people vaccinated and this is all over and we kept saying here, no it’s not over due to Delta. We still have too many people who are unvaccinated. It’s a challenge.”

COVID-19 cases in Europe have jumped 11-percent in the last week.
And word from World Health Organization is that Europe could see another 700,000 COVID related deaths by the spring, unless crucial measures are taken soon.
