CARP members are receiving credit for helping to end the work stoppage by Ontario optometrists, who have resumed eye care for those 18 and under and people 65 and over, while beginning talks to end their funding dispute with the Ford PCs at Queen’s Park.

Thousands of members of the Zoomers’ advocacy group wrote their MPPs insisting the two sides resolve the issue.

“We all know that this is a demographic that votes, a demographic that follows what’s going on, that knows what the government responsibilities are,” Opposition NDP Health Critic France Gelinas told Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with guest host Jane Brown, “They were holding the government to their responsibility and to account, and I have no doubt that they played a huge part in getting those services offered again.”

Optometrists withdrew OHIP-covered services September 1st, claiming they’ve been dramatically underfunded by Queen’s Park for years.
