In another step to help the travel industry rebuild, the Trudeau government announced that more Canadian airports will be able to accept international flights.
Starting November 30, eight more regional airports will be open to world travellers.
”Opening these airports to international travel is another step forward in rebuilding and reopening our travel system,” said Transport Minister Omar Alghabra, who made the announcement at Region of Waterloo International; one of the eight soon to reopen.
He explained this expansion is possible because by the end of the month, federal rules requiring proof of vaccination in order to travel on a plane will have been fully phased in.
The other airports that’ll open by November 30 are John C. Munro Hamilton International, St. John’s International, Regina International, Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International, Kelowna International, Abbotsford International and Victoria International.
That’ll be in addition to the 10 already receiving international flights, including Pearson International and Billy Bishop Toronto City Centre.
