The Canada Recovery Benefit, Canada Emergency Rent and Wage Subsidies will be gone this weekend.
In their place will be more targeted COVD-19 aid measures, such as the Tourism and Hospitality Recovery Program, that’ll provide supports to hotels, restaurants, travel agencies and tour operators at a subsidy rate of up to 75%.
Another new measure is the Hardest Hit Business Recovery Program, which will provide wage and rent subsidies of up to 50% of businesses that can demonstrate what Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland ”deep and enduring losses.”
The Lockdown Support Program will be for businesses that may face further local shutdowns.
Ottawa will make the wage and rent subsidy available up to the maximum amount for the duration of a lockdown.
Meanwhile, the Canada Worker Lockdown Benefit would provide $300-per-week to workers subject to a lockdown, including those ineligible for E-I.
The new measures will run until May, while the Canada Recovery Hiring Program, Canada Sickness Benefit and Canada Caregiving Benefit will be extended until then.
