So much for the possibility of permitting travellers to enter Canada without taking a COVID-19 test.

Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland says the country must remain vigilant and that includes making sure anyone who crosses the Canada-U.S. border is not infected.

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce is among those calling on the Trudeau government to drop the requirement to show a negative P-C-R test when entering the country.

However when fully immunized Canadians are allowed to cross the land border with the U.S. next month, they won’t be required to show negative test results.

Freeland, who’s in Washington, says she had her test done in advance of her return home later today.

The deputy prime minister adds she really believes that when it comes to finishing the fight against COVID, Canada’s approach of following science and erring on the side of caution has served us well.
