The key message is the smaller the gathering, the smaller the risk of transmission and use outdoor space whenever possible.

“When gathering indoors with a group of fully vaccinated individuals, you can consider removing your face covering if everyone is comfortable, but if you gather indoors with people from multiple households who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated or you don’t know whether they’ve been vaccinated, you should wear a face covering and phsically distance,” said Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore.

Dr. Moore says people should not attend gatherings if they have even mild symptoms.

Indoor gatherings must be limited to 25, 100 for outdoors.

“Make your event as safe as possible, you should also provide hand sanitizer, soap and water for your guests to wash their hands frequently, cover your coughs or sneezes, keep the windows open and ensure high touch surfaces are cleaned and disinfected.”

And Halloween is a go for kids this year and Dr. Moore says kids should stay outside, wear a proper mask, don’t crowd doorsteps or shout too loudly.

Dr. Moore also announced that seniors in all congregate settings, not just long term care have been added to the list for 3rd booster vaccine shots.
