Zoomers of a certain vintage will recognize the name “Commander Cody” and will certainly remember his biggest hit.

Commander Cody, who along with his Lost Planet Airmen, scored a number one hit in 1971 with “Hot Rod Lincoln.”

The entertainer, whose real name was George Frayne, was a glib, piano-pounding bandleader who followed up “Hot Rod Lincoln” with “Smoke! Smoke! Smoke! That Cigarette.”

George Frayne has died of cancer at his home in Florida.

He was 77.
