He was a consummate jazz bassist, who for more than half a century backed up countless big name performers like Canada’s Oscar Peterson.
George Mraz established himself as one of the most in-demand bassists in jazz early in has career and retained that status for decades.
He also back up the likes of Dizzy Gillespie and Joe Lovano.
Mraz has died. The cause or location wasn’t given, but it’s understood, he had suffered from pancreatic cancer.
George Mraz was 77.
