Businesses and enforcement agencies are bracing for Wednesday, when Ontario residents must show proof of vaccine for some non essential settings.
You’ll need to show a paper or digital vaccination receipt until next month, when the province plans a new QR code app. But those without a smartphone can continue using paper receipt.
Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kieran Moore says enforcement will happen gradually.
“It may take time for it to sink in, I do want to reiterate that we will have a progressive enforcement of this certification validation process and I ask all Ontarians to be kind and considerate and understand this is something new to all of us.”
Patrons at restaurants, nightclubs, gyms, sports facilities and other venues must present a receipt of full vaccination and identification. Doctors’ notes for medical exemptions will also be accepted.
Businesses that don’t comply with the checks and patrons who give false information will face fines.
