Quebec tenor Jean-Paul Jeannotte has died.
Jeannotte trained in Montreal before heading over Paris for further training when he was 21-years-old in 1947l. He gained renown as an opera career performing in Europe.
He returned home to teach at Laval University before becoming the first artistic director of the Opéra de Montréal in 1979.
He held that position until 1989.
Jeannotte was made an Officer in the Order of Canada in 1987.
Jean-Paul Jeannotte was 95.
