Canadian mystery writer Louise Penny says she’s ecstatic that actress Joan Allen has been chosen to narrate “State of Terror,” the political thriller Penny wrote with former U-S Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.

After all, Penny says Allen has experience dealing with spies.

That’s Allen in her turn as CIA Deputy Director Pamela Landy in “The Bourne Supremacy.”

“State of Terror” features a novice secretary of state, working in the administration of a rival politician, who tries to solve a wave of terrorist attacks. It’s the first work of fiction from the former U-S first lady.

The 63-year old Toronto based Penny is known for mysteries featuring Inspector Armand Gamache. His latest adventure, called “The Madness of Crowds,” came out last month.

The audio book is scheduled for release October 12th.
