The provincial medical regulator is pleading with doctors to be careful about handing out COVID-19 vaccine exemptions.
So says the registrar of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario the day after the Ford government unveiled a vaccine certificate program
As of September 22, residents will need to be fully immunized to gain access to some non-essential services, unless they have a medical reason they cannot get vaccinated.
Dr. Nancy Whitmore says the college has already heard about requests for baseless medical exemptions, and that physicians must not cave in.
She adds there are few legit medical reasons not to get vaccinated.
They include an allergist-confirmed severe allergy or anaphylactic reaction to a previous dose of a COVID shot or to any of its elements, and a diagnosis of myocarditis or pericarditis after getting an mRNA vaccine.
