Damian Warner from London, Ontario cruised to a record-setting gold-medal victory in the decathlon today winning one of three medals for Canada at the Tokyo Olympics.

The 31-year-old shattered the Olympic record with 9,018 points after a gruelling two-day, 10-discipline competition and became the first Canadian to win decathlon gold.

He’s just the fourth man in history to top the 9,000 point mark.

Elsewhere at the Tokyo Games, organizers have changed the start time of Canada’s highly-anticipated gold-medal women’s soccer match against Sweden.

The final will now be played at 9 p-m local time or 8 a-m Friday Eastern in Canada in order to avoid the scorching daytime temperatures.
