He’s being remembered as the actor who performed the role of Wang Ta in productions of “Flower Drum Song,” more than any other actor.
Actor and singer Alvin Ing, known for Broadway and tour runs of “Flower Drum Song” and “Pacific Overtures” has died of COVID-19 despite being fully vaccinated.
Among his film credits were “The Gambler,” “Stir Crazy” and “Troop Beverly Hills.” On TV he had a recurring role on “Falcon Crest” and guested on shows like “Charlie’s Angels,” “Quincy,” “Fantasy Island” and “Hawaii Five-0.”
Ing was a Honolulu native and held a masters degree in music education.
Alvin Ing was 89.
