Ontario is about to experience its first long weekend under Stage Three of reopening.

The Simcoe Day long weekend (as it’s known in Toronto), is slightly different than your average long weekend.  This year there is plenty to do on holiday Monday.

First to what’s closed: banks, government offices and libraries and and there will be no mail delivery.

What’s open: Restaurants, bars and patios, all of which are desperate for business after the long COVID-19 lockdowns.

Grocery stores can be open but many of those that do will operate on holiday hours as will shopping malls.

Indoor and outdoor attractions like the CN Tower, Toronto Islands and A.G.O. will be open, although many will operate on holiday hours and many require booking in advance.

You are urged to call ahead or check online for individual hours of operation and policies.

Go Transit will be running on a Sunday schedule.

The TTC will be operating on a holiday service schedule.
