Fans of Canadian music legend Joni Mitchell are eagerly awaiting the release this fall of “Joni Mitchell; Archives Volume Two”.

The project features almost six hours of unreleased home, studio, and live recordings including Mitchell’s performance at an Ottawa coffer house in 1968 that was recorded by Jimi Hendrix on a reel-to-reel tape machine.

The now 77-year old singer-songwriter recalls giving Hendrix permission to record the show, but the tape was stolen a few days later and presumed lost until it turned up in a private collection and was returned to Mitchell.

Other highlights include a concert in London 1970 that was broadcast by the BBC and includes versions of “Carey” and “River,” songs which were destined to appear on Mitchell’s seminal album “Blue,” in 1971.

This latest collection, which is a chronological study of Mitchell’s music career, is out October 29th.
