”This is a beautifully renovated and revitalized Union Station for what has been a long awaited day.”
The words of Toronto Mayor John Tory as he stood inside the Bay Street concourse, which has reopened to commuters for the first time since 2015.

The renovation of Union Station began in 2010 and was supposed to be done five years later but a number of unforeseen issues led to the timeline being repeatedly pushed back.
Many had to do with the age of the building which opened in 1927.
All of this led to an increase of nearly $200-million in the budget for a total of $824-million.
The new concourse is more than double the size of the previous one.
It connects to a new retail area with over 36,000 sq ft of space.
