GOV GEN-DESIGNATE SIMON HAS AUDIENCE WITH THE QUEEN

Canada’s governor-general in waiting had a virtual face-to-face meeting with the Queen.
It came three days before Mary Simon is formally sworn-in as the 30th representative of the British monarchy, and 16th appointed during the Queen’s nearly 70-year reign.
In a short clip of their online chat that was posted on The Royal Family’s Instagram account, the Queen told Simon she was ”taking over a very important job.”
“Yes, I’m very privileged to be able to do this work over the next few years,” she replied.
”I think it’s vitally important for our country.”
During their meeting, Simon was invested as an extraordinary companion of the Order of Canada, an extraordinary commander of the Order of Military Merit, and a commander of the Order of Merit of the Police Forces.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages has said it intends to investigate the process fro nominating governors general after receiving over 400 complaints from Canadians upset Simon cannot speak French.
She had said she was not given the opportunity to learn the language as a child but promises to do so while in her new role.
