Washington has decided to extend its COVID-19 travel restrictions on both its neighbours until August 21.
This comes as no surprise as Public Safety Minister Bill Blair has said Homeland Security had warned him that the Biden Administration would not be following Canada’s lead.
Ottawa will allow fully vaccinated American citizens and permanent residents into the country 12-days earlier, August 9.
Experts and political observers say the Biden administration is likely not ready to open the U.S. border with Mexico, given the existing refugee crisis, and that the White House wants both borders opened at the same time.
