There has been a deadly boat collision in Ontario’s cottage country on Muskoka’s Lake Rosseau.

Bracebridge OPP investigators say emergency crews were called to the lake near Windermere Marina just after 7:30 Wednesday evening for a crash.

Witnesses had reported seeing several people in the water after two boats collided.

Police say one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Four others were taken to hospital with serious injuries, including one person who was airlifted to a Toronto area hospital. One person remains missing with a search resuming Thursday morning.

A total of six people were on the two boats.

The cause of the collision is unknown.

This crash brings to mind the horrific and deadly crash of two boats in the summer of 2019 on Lake Joseph, for which Linda O’Leary is now standing trial.

The wife of business mogul Kevin O’Leary is facing a single charge of operating a vessel in a careless manner under the Canada Shipping Act.

The trial is expected to wrap up Thursday.
