Denis Shapovalov’s first appearance in a Grand Slam semi-final ended with a straight sets loss to top-seed Novak Djokovic.

He beat the 22-year-old from Richmond Hill 7-6 (3), 7-5, 7-5 to reach his 7th final at the All England Club.

That ties Djokovic for second on the all-time list with Boris Becker, Arthur Gore and Pete Sampras.

He’ll face Italy’s Matteo Berrettini in Sunday’s final.

Roger Federer has played in 12 Wimbledon finals, winning eight.

Djokovic has won five, including the last two.

He’s won 19 majors – just one shy of the record held by Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
